Embellish This Competition - My entry for Round 5

Good Evening All

Well firstly I wanted to apologise for being absent in recent days:(, I have certainly had some bad cards dealt to me of late and am just trying to get through one day at a time at the moment, but things are all OK!!! DON'T PANIC

I thought I would just post an update in relation to my entry for this week over at Scrap.n.craft with T for the "Embellish This" Competition. I still amazed that I'm still in there with a chance, I'm up against some amazing talented ladies, but mostly the challenges that are set are really making think outside the square so to speak which is great and something I need right now.

So without further ado, this weeks challenge (round 5) was to create a piece using Recycled Materials!!

Requirements are as follows:

Toilet rolls -
The little scrolls at the top of the Canvas

Metallic -
I altered the small tree on the bottom with coloured patty pans

3 types of visible Paper Clipping -
Staples, Brads and Pins

A handle (pre-made or make your own)
I used a button on the right hand side of my framing.

Tags -
I created my tags on a chain to hang off Canvas

Distressing -
I used Tim Holtz distress ink all over my project and also sand papered and tore edges.

Bind your Project -
I used raffia to bind my project on the right hand side of the frame and also a used hinge on the left hand side of frame for turning.

Stamping -
I used a little bird stamp to resemble the Challenge Chics and also a friend quote.

Stitching -
I used a cross stitch up on the left hand side of frame and also hand drawn stitching around my scalloped edge patterned paper.

Here is my example:

I used a canvas as my base for this challenge as I wanted this project to hang on my wall. I hadn't yet used either my photographs from the Challenge Chics Retreat I had been too earlier in August 2009, so what better chance to get things organised and scrapped;)

The perfect amount of frames for Nine beautiful ladies that I had the chance to meet up at Rockhampton in Queendsland. These ladies hold a special place in my heart, Ill never forget them and the great time we shared together.

Thanks for looking and I look forward to posting more now things are getting better. I do hope this reaches you all safe and well.

Have a great Friday and weekend:):):)

My past week

Good Morning everyone

Wow! The weekends just keep coming around so quickly at the moment.

I have only a couple of things to update on at the moment, life is a little hectic here at the moment, so sorry I cant tell you more!

Recently found out I have made it through to the next round of the "Embellish This" Competition over at Scrap.n.Craft with T (Tanyah Payne's Blog). This weeks challenge sounds very interesting, but my thinking cap is on and I think this will be a terrific way for me to express myself through creativity. Its about using Recycled Items, so should be a heap of fun.

I have also placed a new digi challenge on my ning site for all those digi scrappers who are members and if you know of anyone else that creates using digi, please pass on the challenge, there is a $10 gift voucher to spend at Sweet Blossom Designs, so the more the merrier. Thank heaps to Sara Belmont for offering the voucher, I truly appreciate it!!!

Apart from all of that its been raining hard here in Coffs Harbour and yet again we have been flooded in, the fourth time this year! I'm starting to feel like a duck. LOL

Anyhow, I do hope you are all having a wonderful start to your weekend what ever you have planned, until we speak again, take care of yourselves and each other.

Embellish This competition and my creation for Round Four

Good Afternoon all:)

Well Im amazed to say the least about how I'm going with my entries for the "Embellish this competition over at Scrap.n.Craft with T. There are so many talented ladies and their creations,I'm very honored to have made it through to the forth round now and I would like to with you my recent creation for round four (Mix It Challenge).

This week's challenge was to create a design using your wealth of knowledge from past crafting items and to create something new out of two seperate techniques. There was also a theme to this exercise "Summer - nice and bright".

I had chosen to use Quilling as one of my creations, as I have the tool, but never put it to use, maybe too afraid of not being able to accomplish the desired effect, but that's what I love about these challenges, is thinking outside the square and having a go!! I designed two items using the quilling technique a Piece of watermelon and Orange.

My second use of the design was to use embroidery, which I dabbled in a long time ago and have ample amounts of products available. I embroidered two leaves sitting along side my quilled Orange.

The layout is based around my son eating a juicy piece of Watermelon on a hot summers day. I titled the page "I love the Fruits of Summer". Brightly coloured pieces of patterned paper, with a 3D approach against the black background really popped this layout and its embellishments out. Below you will find my different angles of the layout and the whole project.

Layout below:

Well cross fingers for me that I get the chance to participate in the next round and even if I don't I think I have certainly broadened my horizons with my scrapping techniques and even learned a few things along the way.

Thanks heaps to Tanyah Payne and the DTeam for the inspiration in these challenges;)

I made it to the Third round at Scrap.n.Craft with T and the Embellish This competition

Good Evening all:)

Just wanted to share with you my recent creation for the Embellish This competition over at Scrap.n.Craft with T.

Ive been Lucky enough to make it through to the Round Three section of the competition. This week's challenge was to create a layout using the Melbourne Cup 2009 Logo and to "Bling It".

Everything comes in three's, so there was 3 separate task to complete also on your layout and they are as follows:

Task One - Colours - Black, white, Teal and Pink

Task Two - Techniques on Background - I used Paint, Sewing and Doodling

Task Three - Fabric, Feathers and Bling.

I created a layout using a photo of my daughter and I at our last years "New Years Eve - (P) Party". This certainly challenged me and I had a lot of fun doing so, especially that splattered paint effect, was very therapeutic;) lol

My Layout called "N.Y.E - New Years Eve"

I do hope I make it through to the next round and even if I don't I think I would still participate as the challenges are awesome and certainly make you think outside the square!!!

Thanks heaps to Tanyah Payne and the DTeam for the inspiration;)

NOVEMBER SKETCH CHALLENGE

Good Evening Ladies

Below you will find the Sketch design for November 2009 and also my take on the sketch as a preview and prize pack.

The November Sketch Design

My Interpretation of the Sketch Design

Prize Pack

How you interpret the sketch is initially up to you. You can choose what ever Papers, Embellishments and Theme you like. All I ask is that you follow the sketch and keep in mind the original outlay of it all.

You may choose to flip it, turn it on its side or even make it a double. The list of possibilities are endless, so go forth and create.

Submission & Cut off time:

Please submit your entries onto the new ning site for Scrap.n.Art in the album provided (November Sketch Challenge) or to my email address scrap.n.art@hotmail.com by the 29th of November 2009, this will allow ample time for the judging to take place in the slide show area and the winner will be announced on the 30st of November 2009.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING SUBMISSIONS TO MAGAZINES or WEBSITES:
Something has come to mind recently in regards to Submissions for either magazines or web based sites. I love the thought that you use my sketch challenges as inspiration and that you participate, but requirements for submitting layouts to magazines require that you use original based layouts of your own.
I have no problems with you using my sketches to submit as I have had a couple of ladies recently now submit there entries into different magazines and they have been accepted, which is terrific, but I hate being the bearer of bad news and that is that if you are going to submit your layouts that have been produced by you, but the sketch being by me the original creator, could you please give credit where credit is due, by stating this a S.N.A. Sketch Designs by Angela Bailey.

I too use digital elements from digital scrappers and it MUST be noted on any submission either web based or magazine submission that you credit the original creator of such elements, sketches or etc. I hope this doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouths, but fair is fair and I know I would do the same for you if it was the other way around.Thank you for your time and for participating.

Keep up the great work ladies and I look forward to seeing your sketch creations.

Kind regards Angie xox

Good Morning Ladies

I have a wonderful opportunity every month of showcasing some of the talented Scrap artist around Australia and Over sea's and this month I bring you another Spotlight Artist.

Please welcome.............................................Artist in the SPOTLIGHT
Chiquita James

Chiquita's layout is called "I've built my world around you two"

Biography:

I am a wife to a loving hubby and a SAHM to two beautiful children. My Scrap booking journey began about 3 years ago by going to a Creative Memories Class to learn the basics.

I have drawn alot of inspiration from many other Online Scrappers who have shared their beautiful work and my knowledge has grown alot because of such. I still don't really have my own style but I do tend to be a bit limited to having everything colour co-ordinated and symmetrical.

I'm working on branching out to find my niche. I started by joining the Songbirds Scraps DT and had alot of fun trying new lyrical inspired pages. I have now moved on teaching scrapbooking classes at my LSS. I'm enjoying every moment of the journey, the products, the memories I can preserve and the photos I can take.

I encourage all to give it a try at least once. You never know, you may become addicted like me :-)
